Triplet Sisters Rise to Eagle
When triplets Janna, Zeina, and Anhar moved from Minnesota to Suwanee, Georgia, they were looking for the same thing most kids want when they land somewhere new: a place to belong. When their mom had heard about Scouting, she figured it was worth a shot.
The three sisters joined Troop 12, chartered by the Muslim American Society in Alpharetta and quickly found a supportive community. The troop's annual whitewater rafting campout in Tennessee is a perennial favorite – it’s the kind of campout that brings everyone together and creates lasting memories.
"We joined Scouts, and now we've been on a ton of campouts, led many of them, and made lifelong friends," says Anhar.
One program in particular left a mark on all three sisters: National Youth Leadership Training, or NYLT. They went through the course together but decided that wasn’t enough.

"One of our favorite activities has been NYLT. When we finished, we decided to staff together – it really taught us a lot," says Janna.
From there, all three went on to the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia, an intensive program that builds on NYLT and draws Scouts from across the country.

When it came time for each of them to develop and complete an Eagle Scout service project, all three chose the same location: Summerour Middle School, where their father is a teacher. Janna created a cabinet and display board for the school's outdoor classroom, Zeina built a greenhouse, and Anhar constructed two wheelchair-accessible garden beds with an irrigation system.
As many of us know, Scouting has a way of pulling families in, and theirs was no exception. Both parents now serve as leaders in Troop 12.
"Both our mom and dad are involved in our troop as leaders," says Zeina, "and they have made a great impact on us and the other Scouts!"
All three sisters earned their Eagle rank in 2025 and are now cheering on their younger brother, who crossed over into the troop earlier this year.
What started as a mom trying to help her daughters find their place in a new environment became something that brought their whole family even closer together and gained lifelong friendships along the way!
