What is Accelerate Woodruff?

Whether 'Accelerate Woodruff' is already on your radar or you're hearing it for the first time, we want to make sure everyone knows what it's all about!

Last year, the Atlanta Area Council received a transformational investment to reimagine and elevate the Woodruff Scout Camp experience for generations to come. Additional donors have generously contributed, and over the last several months, we have begun a multi-year process of enhancing and developing facilities to establish Woodruff Scout Camp as the premier destination for Scouts & Scouters while offering the highest quality outdoor experiences. For generations, Woodruff Scout Camp has been the heart of Scouting in the Southeast, where adventure and leadership take root.

Accelerate Woodruff goes beyond facilities -- it is an investment in the future of Scouting.

What has been completed so far?

We're so glad you asked! During phase one, we have emphasized completing projects that will have an immediate impact on our Scouts this summer and fall. All of the following enhancements have already been completed or will be finished by early May -- just in time for Summer Camp!

Skilled Trades Workshop
Thanks to The Home Depot and other great partners like Graphic Packaging and Southern Company Gas, the new Skilled Trades Workshop is outfitted with the tools needed to teach Scouts valuable, hands-on skills like wiring, painting, and welding.  

Life Skills Pavilions
Our Life Skills area is getting a permanent home in the heart of camp, with purpose-built pavilions featuring integrated power and new concrete pads.

Crow Family STEM Lab
The Crow Family STEM Lab greatly expanded our program offerings in STEM with new tools and technologies available to Scouts. More coming soon!

 

Dining Hall Remodel
The dining hall is receiving a well-deserved remodel with brand-new equipment, HVAC replacement, interior finishes, and a new mural commemorating Woodruff's history.

Sharp Welcome Center
The Sharp Welcome Center opened in June 2025 and serves as the greeting place for the thousands of Scouts and Leaders who come to camp each year. The center also features the Ted Vinson Leaders lounge, a respit for Leaders during those hot summer days.

Increased Parking Capacity
Towards the front of camp, just before the main gate, we are building a new parking lot that will increase the parking capacity of the camp by 100 vehicles!
