Scout Day at the Georgia State Capitol

Scout Day at the Capitol returns Monday, March 9, 2026! Scouting prepares young people to be good citizens. Spend the day witnessing first-hand the political process in Georgia. Watch your legislators recognize your Scouts from the House Gallery. And have a chance to ask actual representatives your most pressing questions!

Advancement opportunities are available for both Cubs and Scouts BSA youth who attend. More details on that coming soon!

The schedule will be finalized in collaboration with the Capitol; the traditional arrival time is 7:30 AM.  The event concludes prior to noon.

What You Need to Know

Scout uniforms are preffered. Adult leaders may also come in uniform.

The schedule will be finalized in collaboration with the Capitol; attendee's should arrive by 7:30 AM. Security opens at 7:00AM.  The event concludes prior to noon.

From 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM, Scouts will arrive at the Georgia State Capitol Building (18 Capitol Square Atlanta, GA 30334) to pick up Chick-fil-A breakfast and event packets. We will stop serving breakfast promptly at 8:00AM. Room Number to pick up breakfast and packets to be announced closer to the event. 

Between 8:00 AM 8:30 AM, Scouts and attendees proceed to the South Steps of the Capitol for group photos.

All Scouts will gather at 8:30am at the South wing steps (second floor). Once you pass security, turn to the right, and take the steps immediately to your right up to the second floor.

There are paid Public parking decks available at several locations around the Capitol building.

Here are a few options, all within 2 blocks:

  • Trinity United Methodist Church, 265 Washington St. SW
  • Capitol Ave SW Parking, 254 Capitol Ave. SW
  • Jesse Hill Parking Lot, 204 Jesse Hill Jr. Dr. SE
  • Public Lot, 33 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW

The entrance to the Capitol building is located on the South side of the building, off Capitol Square SW. All adults will need a valid State issued ID. No weapons are allowed in the building, including pocket knives. All bags will be checked by security.
