Introducing My.Scouting.org as Your Resource Hub

My.Scouting.org

Your one-stop shop for e-learning, online charter renewal and more. To update to your actual Member ID that you receive when you register as a Leader, from the My.Scouting.org menu, scroll down to “Manage Member ID,” select “092 Atlanta Area Council” and then add your ID number provided when you successfully registered. Set this number as the primary and then online training you take will register in your Adult Leader role in your unit.

Is Your BSA Member ID in Your Profile?

To get the most out of My.Scouting.org, you want to be sure that your login profile includes the BSA Member ID that you receive when you register as an Adult Leader (if you were a Lion or Tiger Adult Partner, you’ll want to update that old Member ID if it changed when you registered as an Adult Leader). To be sure your BSA Member ID is accurate and to update that if needed, click “Menu” when you log into My.Scouting.org, scroll down to “Manage Member ID,” and if your BSA Member ID is not shown correctly, select “092 Atlanta Area Council” and then add your ID number provided when you successfully registered as an adult leader. Set this number as the primary and then online training you take will register in your Adult Leader role in your unit plus you will have access to tools and data available only to adult leaders registered in your role.  You are also able to be assigned additional data tools by the “Key Three” of your Unit once you’re connected with that Member ID.

BeAScout Site (Pin) Updates and Online Registration Tools

My.Scouting.org is where your Unit can maximize online registration tools and make intake of new youth and adults much easier for you and for new Scouts and families.  If a family is searching for Scouting, BeAScout.org is where they will often end up – the tagline on the BeAScout.org site is “Find Scouting Near You”.  To help attract as many families as possible to your Unit, you will want to update your BeAScout.org “pin” that describes your Unit, and opens into an invitation to join and submit an online Application – and to receive automatic emails about your Unit, how you operate, what your activities are, and how you collect for the costs of the program.

A BeAScout.org pin can be updated by a “Key 3” leader of your unit (or a “Key 3 Delegate”), by logging in to your My.Scouting.Org account and updating “BeAScout” Unit Pin data and Settings found in the “Organization Manager” for your unit. The Key 3 leaders are (1) the Unit Leader (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor), (2) Committee Chair, and (3) Chartered Organization Representative - any of them can appoint up to 3 “Key 3 Delegates” from other registered leaders using Organization Security Manager in My.Scouting.Org (this must be re-delegated every year after Charter Renewal).  More at atlantabsa.org/updateBeAScoutpin

Scoutbook and/or Internet Advancement 2.0

A BSA "Advancement Report” is required to be filed in order to purchase rank advancement items at the Scout Shop. There are two online ways to do this: Scoutbook at Scoutbook.Scouting.org or Internet Advancement 2.0 through My.Scouting.org. Setting up a Scoutbook account is easy! Go to Scoutbook.Scouting.org and follow the prompts – Scoutbook automatically populates with the names of your current registered youth and adult leaders and it can be a much more interactive tool and be used for functions beyond advancement recording and reporting. Internet Advancement 2.0 is accessed through My.Scouting.org and also reflects your current roster – as the name implies, it is all about advancement reporting (though it also has links to Scoutbook and Internet Recharter). All advancement reports under either tool will be entered by the Unit Advancement Chair or other authorized Leader. For further assistance, contact the Volunteer Service Center at 770-989-8820.

The Advancement Report is submitted to the Scout Shop at the time of purchase of rank advancement and merit badges. An advancement report is not required to purchase Cub Scout Adventure loops or pins – in fact, savvy Dens and Packs will purchase loops and pins in advance to allow for immediate recognition when an Adventure is completed. You will not be allowed to purchase rank advancement without this report. It is recommended that each Unit submit monthly reports. All advancement for December should be submitted prior to midnight on December 31st in order to update your Unit, District and Council Advancement Statistics. Logging Service Hours

Service hours help you achieve Journey to Excellence recognition and helps Scouting share its impact with the community. To log your service hours you can access your Unit’s Scoutbook account, or sign into your My.Scouting.org account, select “Menu,” then scroll down to “BSA Web Links,” select “Internet Advancement 2.0” and enter the hours there. To do that, you will need your Unit’s 4 digit number (so, if you’re Pack 1, your 4 digit number is 0001), then go to “roster”, select “all” or “individual,” “record progress,” “service hours” for a service project activity you create there. If you run into any issues, please contact the Volunteer Service Center at 770-989-8820.

Internet Rechartering

Internet Renewal puts the power of accuracy in your hands. Units only need to log into your My.Scouting.org account. To access this system as a Key 3 Leader or delegate, sign into your My.Scouting.org account, select “Menu,” then scroll down to “BSA Web Links,” select “Internet Advancement 2.0”, and – during recharter season – the left side menu will include an option for Internet Recharter.

System can be accessed after October 1st to begin processing your Renewal, but be aware that any membership you submit to Council after the date that you log in for the first time will not show on your Renewal and will require a separate payment for the next year to be included. You can continue to have members register for your unit via BeAScout.org where they will be assessed the fees for the coming year and the remainder of the current year and appear on your final roster! Verify your roster through My.Scouting.org before beginning. By thoroughly reviewing before you begin will reduce errors.

Be sure to attach original applications for anyone you add to your roster and upload into the recharter. After completing the recharter you will click on the Validate and Pay button. You will be given the opportunity to pay using a Credit Card, Echeck or pay directly to council. The choice is yours! All recharters should be completed prior to December 31st – if you go beyond that date, you will lose the ability to take online applications until recharter is completed.  For more, see atlantabsa.org/charter-renewal
